Hidden Sector Baryogenesis

چکیده
We introduce a novel mechanism for baryogenesis, in which mixed anomalies between the hidden sector and U(1)baryon drive the baryon asymmetry. We demonstrate that this mechanism occurs quite naturally in intersecting-brane constructions of the Standard Model, and show that it solves some of the theoretical difficulties faced in matching baryogenesis to experimental bounds. We illustrate with a specific example model. We also discuss the possible signals at the LHC.

Topologically Stable Z - Strings in the Supersymmetric Standard Model
We show that the minimal supergravity extension of the standard model automatically contains topologically stable electroweak strings if the hidden sector is invariant under the exact R-symmetry. These defects appear in the form of the semiglobal R-strings, which necessarily carry Z-flux inside their core. This result is independent from the particular structure of the hidden sector. Discussed ...
متن کاملIntersecting Brane Models and Cosmology
We discuss the application of general features of intersecting brane model constructions in cosmology. In particular, we describe a scenario for D-term inflation which arises straightforwardly in IBM constructions wherein open non-vectorlike strings play the role of the inflaton. We also show that baryogenesis driven by hidden sector mixed anomalies can naturally arise in intersecting brane mod...
متن کاملConstraints on Baryogenesis from the Decay of Superstring Axions
We calculate the dilution of the baryon-to-photon ratio by the decay of superstring axions. We find that the dilution is of the order of 107. We review several models of baryogenesis and show that most of them can not tolerate such a large dilution. In particular, only one current model of electroweak baryogenesis possibly survives. The Affleck-Dine mechanism in SUSY GUTs is very robust and the...
متن کاملCosmology of Supersymmetric Models with Low-energy Gauge Mediation
We study the cosmology of supersymmetric models in which the supersymmetry breaking effects are mediated by gauge interactions at about the 105 GeV scale. We first point out that the gravitino is likely to overclose the Universe in this class of models. This requires an entropy production, which prefers a baryogenesis mechanism at a relatively low temperature. The Affleck-Dine mechanism for bar...
متن کاملResonant Amplification of Electroweak Baryogenesis at Preheating
We explore viable scenarios for parametric resonant amplification of electroweak (EW) gauge fields and Chern-Simons number during preheating, leading to baryogenesis at the electroweak (EW) scale. In this class of scenarios time-dependent classical EW gauge fields, essentially spatially-homogeneous on the horizon scales, carry ChernSimons number which can be amplified by parametric resonance up...
